it’s just a donut

You’d think my top-performing YouTube video would be a tutorial. Or maybe a Procreate deep dive. Or even something that teaches anything at all.

But no.
It’s me drawing a donut.

That’s it. A donut timelapse. With commentary that basically amounts to:
“I don’t know why I’m doing this. I just wanted to show you I made a donut.”

And somehow — it’s fairly popular.

There’s something weirdly comforting about that. Not everything you make needs a big concept, deep meaning, or even a purpose. Sometimes, you just make art because you want to. And then you make a ridiculous video about it because you’re bored.

I think that’s why the video works. It’s simple, unfiltered, and kind of chaotic in a normal way. If that even makes any sense? It’s a reminder that sharing your art doesn’t have to be polished or profound, it can be random and uniquely you.

So yeah, my top video isn’t my most educational or impressive. It’s just random.
